About me

Hey there.

My name is Tabitha, I am a mother to two children, and married to my husband, Nick.

Nick is a strong and beautifully deep person. As most do in Montana, we started our relationship over some wheat beer at a house party. Him with a long luscious ponytail, natural confidence, and a laugh that still stops me in my tracks. Me with long 70’s style hair, a jean jacket that I had worn to death, and a young women’s sense of self. It was an instant connection, and we have worked hard over the years to build a life neither of us could have imagined.

My daily grind includes working downtown at our local courthouse as an attorney, spending as much time with my kiddos as possible, and trying to remember that first came our relationship then came the children.

Our son, Nixon, who just turned four, was diagnosed with Autism in January of 2020. This journey is a new one for us. We have felt the color wheel of emotions during this time and are still working through some of the deep feelings. Our son is a amazing free spirit, a lover of dinosaurs, self-proclaimed vegetarian (mostly), who would spend all of his time in the water if we let him and all-around nature boy. My secret hope is that he will get a job in forestry and I can camp with him off the beaten path. We also have a spirited daughter, Nora, who is less than two. We call her the light of our household. She shines through any room. She has a huge personality for such a tiny human.

I wanted to start a blog to have a place to write about our experience but also a place to provide resources to help navigate through this challenging system. One thing that has surprised me the most about this journey is how hard it was to find information regarding services in one central place. I googled, YouTubed, called organizations, reached out to schools, and still had to piece everything together. I hope to use my research skills to put together some resources regarding diagnosis and services if you are new to this journey.

Thank you for learning a bit about our family and what lead us to Peace of Autism.
